Maty originally studied clothing design and worked in the fashion industry for 15 years before coming to public libraries. Presently, they work as a teen services librarian in several neighborhood branches of the Boston Public Library. Their work has been focused on building library outreach relationships with community partners who work with underserved and marginalized youth, being active in the library’s union, and advocating/educating on different surveillance issues in and out of the library.
