Khalil El-Bathy grew up in Detroit and earned his MLIS from San Jose State University. He has worked in both public and academic libraries and is currently the Reference & Instruction Librarian at SOWELA Technical Community College. In this role, he provides research assistance and teaches his students information literacy skills and concepts. He is very passionate about affordable education and has had the pleasure to support the creation of two Open Educational Resource (OER) courses at his college. Khalil believes that every library should strive to be made over into a “people’s university” where all knowledge, culture, and information is free for everyone. Our privacy is not the price we need to pay to create, share, learn, and play.
